Matt Grigsby is a full-time Americana songwriter and musician based in the DFW area. His sound blends elements of Folk, Soul, and Americana, and has been described as “if Townes Van Zandt sang like Otis Redding,” with powerful lyrics delivered with conviction. Matt’s songs take listeners from his small-town Kentucky beginnings to the piney woods of East Texas where he was raised, and now to the DFW area, where he has become a regular nominee for local awards.

In 2019, Matt won the Texas State Songwriter’s Championship at SXSW in Austin. He’s performed at respected festivals such as the Kerrville Folk Festival, Denton Folk Festival, Pilot Point Songwriters Festival, and the 2019 Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival. Matt is also co-founder and president of the Denton Songwriters Guild, a non-profit dedicated to helping songwriters.

In addition to his original songs, Matt performs a wide range of covers, from Prince to Willie Nelson to Kermit the Frog. He can perform all originals or mix things up to suit the crowd. Whether performing solo, duo, trio, or with a full band, Matt brings the same energy and authenticity to each performance.
